So, England may not be “bringing it home” yet again but it wasn’t for a lack of support at the venues, and in pubs and clubs up and down the country. NCC Members and guests did their best to help the Three Lions with Stadium NCC close to capacity for all of England’s matches – including the 2am kick-off against Mexico. As we know, it all ended in bitter disappointment with defeat to Argentina, but spectators at the Club certainly seemed to enjoy the tournament. On-the-night sweepstakes, organised by Bob and Heather Halls, food provided by Bob Wailling, two club-wide sweepstakes, and excellent service from Dan, Millie, and Alex all contributed to an excellent atmosphere.
