Bob Halls is our champion golfer following the annual Golf Day held at Colne Valley Golf Club in July.
Playing off the maximum handicap allowed, 28 – he usually plays off 30, and despite failing to score on two holes – Bob registered 40 Stableford points, in a round which included three pars. Bob’s victory comes just five years after his son, Jake, won at Felixstowe Ferry making them only the second father/son pair to have lifted the trophy after Peter and David Linscott.
Prizes, presented by our Bar Manager, Danielle Phyphers, went to:
Winner: Bob Halls, 40 points
Runner-up: Andy Totham, 38 points
Third place: David A Partridge, 36 points
Best Guest: Andy Salmon, 39 points
Best Team: Andy Totham, Peter Anderson, Carl Gooch, Stuart Robinson, 132 points, average 33
Longest drive: Peter Anderson
Nearest the Pin: Carl Pearse

“Colne Valley did us proud,” said event organiser Bob Wailling. “The course was in excellent condition, and the food and service were also top-class.” Bob extended his thanks to everyone who supported the event – there were 37 golfers on the day – and sponsors who donated prizes, including Alex Johnson of Colchester Brewery, David Linscott, Chairman of the NCC Society, and Colchester Golf Club, which provided the first prize of a four-ball voucher.
