The NCC is proud to announce it will be paying tribute to the Golden Generation of the 1940s who, well let’s not beat about the bush, won us the war! Hurrah!
On Saturday, May 10 we will host our very own Victory in Europe Party to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the ending of hostilities. VE Day in 1945 saw many street parties throughout the land and in the streets of Colchester. And we’ve got our own little shindig planned. So put the date in your diaries and get your sing-along voices at the ready.
We will have 1940s music all day and a live Wartime Singer to take us through the classics of the era – there may even be a song about the White Cliffs Of Dover. Who knows?
Winston Churchill, in person, will be popping in to pay homage and give the country’s thanks to the Colcestrians who sacrificed so much and salute your noble efforts in marking this special occasion. There will be Wartime food – no rationing – bunting, flags, books, photos, wartime speeches and also a fun quiz. Fancy dress of the era is not compulsory but there will a prize for the best turned out.

The event starts around 3pm with plenty of time for flag-waving camaraderie and festivities – and maybe the odd beverage to toast victory!! Tickets (including food) are £10 each and limited to 80 people only. They will go on sale from April 7 behind the bar.
