Steve keeps it in the family

Steve Bartlett is the NCC champion golfer of 2026. Playing in the annual golf day, at Braintree on 10 July, “Barty” scored an impressive 40 Stableford points.
It is the third time he has lifted the trophy – previous triumphs were at Brett Vale in 2004, and Five Lakes in 2009 – and he was delighted to keep the trophy in the family – youngest son, Karl won last year’s event at Frinton.
Runner-up was John Campbell, with 38 points, while David Linscott finished third with 37 points. Winning guest was Andy Gosling, who also carded 40 points.
It was a day to remember for the Bartletts, as Barty, Karl and older brother, Sean, in partnership with Matt Cripps, won the team prize and to add even more gas to their Carlsberg, Karl also won one of the nearest the pin prizes, as did his uncle, David Linscott.
Dave Arnold, who is not related to the Bartletts or the Linscotts, won the longest drive.
Thanks to Matt Linscott, and Andy Schofield for organising the event, and to bar manager Danielle Phyphers, for giving up her precious time to present the prizes.
